Kilimanjaro Climb

On Thursday 22nd September, just after midnight, Tom Shaw set off for the summit of Kilimankaro (Uhuru Peak, meaning "Freedom") from his last high camp (Barafu), at 4600m.
The first six hours of the ascent were steep and in darkness. At 06:00, as he reached Stella Point at 5735m on the crater rim, the sun came up presenting a glorious sunrise. Just over an hour later, after a gently rising traverse on the rim, he reached the summit at 5895m. Magnificent!
To date Tom has raised £1750 in aid of Camsley Grange RDA Group, although his Just Giving webpage will continue to accept donations for some time if anybody whishes to donate to the group in recognition of his efforts.

Peter Jackson completes the BUPA Great Manchester Run in aid of Camsley Grange RDA

Peter Jackson, Sam's father, entered his first 10Km race to raise money for the group. He completed the BUPA Great Manchester Run in an official time of 1 hour and 38 seconds. At the time of writing, Peter's Just Giving page shows over £500 raised so far which is a fantastic effort, although it is not too late for you to show your support and appreciation by adding to his total. Rumour has it that Peter is already setting his sites on a half-marathon next, so watch this space.
The group would like to offer a huge congratulations to Peter on his achievement. Why not watch the BBC TV highlights of the event on the iPlayer and if it inspires you to take part in a sponsored event or activity in support of the group then we'd love to hear from you.

Camsley Rider Takes 2nd in Regional Dressage Competition

Congratulations to Megan White. Riding Jessie, Megan entered the dressage competition (assisted class - walk/trot) at the North West Regional Show that had been due to take place at Crosby. Due to equine travel restrictions in place at the time, the dressage test was recorded on video and sent off for judging.
Megan was awarded second place in her class, with an overall score of 113 (66.5%) and Sheila Saner came to one of our evening rides to present Megan and Jessie with their certificate and rosette. The pair then demonstrated their routine to the rest of the Group present that evening.
